Managua 2017 Central American Games begins

After the Inaugural Ceremony of the Managua 2017 Central American Games Softball, on Monday will start the Women’s and Men’s Softball competitions, in the Roberto Clemente and ENEL stadiums, in the Nicaraguan capital.

Four teams will play in the Women’s event, including El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua and Panama. These teams will play a double round robin to be held from Monday to Wednesday.

In the Men’s competition Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama will be present to play a single round robin.

In the last Central American Games in San Jose 2013, Guatemala claimed the Gold medal both in the Women’s and Men’s events. In the first, they beat El Salvador by 13-3 in the final, while the Bronze went to Belize. In the other hand, Guatemala defeated Panama by 8-3 in the Men’s final to win the Gold, while Nicaragua claimed the Bronze medal.

The top four teams from each competition (male and female softball) will advance to a single page playoff system to be played Thursday, 7 December.
